We congratulate Ludwig Straub who has been awarded the John Bates Clark Medal by the American Economic Association!

Ludwig Straub is a former member of the MGSE and the CRC TR 15 “Governance and the Efficiency of Economic Systems”. He studied physics, mathematics, and economics (B.Sc. in Physics) at LMU Munich and mathematics (M.A.St.) at the University of Cambridge before switching to economics. As a member of the MGSE and the CRC TR 15, he first conducted economic research at our department, before completing his Ph.D. in Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2019, he was appointed to Harvard University where he is now a full professor.

The Clark Medal is considered the most important award in economics after the Nobel Prize. It is awarded every year in April to an economist under the age of 40 who, in the judgment of the jury, has made the most significant contribution to economic thought and knowledge.
