We are pleased to congratulate Claudia Goldin being this year's Nobel Laureate in Economics! Claudia Goldin's ground breaking research has illuminated the intricate facets of the gender pay gap, emphasizing that it's not solely about discrimination but deeply tied to occupational choices and caregiving responsibilities. Her work has transcended academic boundaries, influencing policy discussions worldwide. She has inspired countless individuals, particularly women, to pursue careers in economics and work towards a more equitable society.

We are proud having Claudia Goldin as Distinguished CES Fellow in Munich, where she only last year gave a talk entitled “Career and Family: Women’s Century-Long Journey to Equity”. You can review her talk at .

We have a double reason to celebrate Claudia Goldin’s Nobel Prize in Economics: first, now there is a full dozen CESifo Network members who are Nobel laureates; second, Claudia makes now 6 out of 30 Distinguished CES Fellows who have received the coveted call from Stockholm. Who else can say that fully 20 percent of those selected for such an academic distinction as the CES Fellowship would also go on to get the Nobel one?
