Prof. Sunde is awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Lucerne.

In his laudatory speech for Prof. Dr. Uwe Sunde, Prof. Dr. Simon Lüchinger, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences, pays tribute to

- who shapes the scientific and social discourse in various areas of economics, particularly in population economics, political economy, growth theory and the study of economic preferences

- who works both theoretically and empirically with the highest standards of scientific excellence and has written important works on the influence of demographic changes on economic growth, on the foundations of risk and time preferences and on the effects of economic development on the transition from autocracy to democracy

- who, as a professor at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich and head of the Department of Population Economics, intensively promotes young academics and makes his research findings accessible to a broad public.
